Whether you are looking for a day in the sun paddling about on lovely Shoreline Lake, the exhilaration of a windsurfing or sailing race, or to meander via bicycle along the many nature trails surrounding the lake (we provide free maps), Shoreline Aquatic Center and Rental Office has something for you. You will find our boathouse situated on the edge of Shoreline Lake. We rent pedalboats, rowboats, canoes, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, bicycles, tandem bikes and, to qualified windsurfers and sailors, our standard to high performance windsurfing equipment, and sailboats.
Equipment Rentals
Pedalboats, rowboats, canoes, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and bicycles are available for rental to those without qualifications. Windsurfers and sailboats are available to qualified windsurfers and sailors. We provide private windsurfing, sailing, stand up paddleboard, and kayaking lessons year-round, and group classes from February-October. Once you obtain Basic Windsurfing Level 1 or Basic Sailing Level 1, you may rent windsurfers or sailboats 7 days per week. Within 14 days after you graduate from the Basic courses after paying for the first rental hour, the second is complimentary (not to be used in combination with other discount cards or promotions). Discount rental cards are also available for standard or high-performance windsurfing equipment, sailboats, single/double/enclosed kayaks. A credit card deposit is required with most rentals. If you are an experienced windsurfer or sailor, but have no proof of certification, you may still rent windsurfing or sailing equipment if you score a 70% pass in one of our free written tests, which cover basic concepts, skills and terminology. Lifejackets or PFD’s are free of charge and required with all boating rentals.

Summer Youth Camps
Between Camp Shoreline and our Windsurfing/Sailing camps young people in the bay area are provided with a fun and instructive time for all – honing new skills in water sports and learning team-building strategies, while enjoying being in a natural wildlife sanctuary. Camps are offered to children from ages 5-15 years. Camp Shoreline provides kids with the opportunity to learn skills related to kayaking, rowing, canoeing or pedalboating, while windsurfing and sailing are touched on at an introductory level. Afternoons at Camp Shoreline may be spent playing games, making crafts, taking a sailboat ride, hiking, or learning about Shoreline Park, birdwatching in its wildlife sanctuary and exploring its natural history. At the end of Windsurfing/Sailing camps young campers are adept in basic windsurfing and sailing skills, fostering self-reliance and independence in older children.
Racing
Racing is an exciting way to get involved in Shoreline’s sailing scene. We offer both competition sailing and windsurfing. The sailing series is offered for both Lasers (bring your own boat) and Capri 14.2’s. Windsurfing is open style. Go here for more information about the various racing clubs available.
Grass Rigging Area
The large grassy area, just outside the café, alongside the beach, is a spacious rigging area for windsurfers. Always ensure your equipment is kept together. When returning from the water, pull your board and rig up on to the gravel area completely out of the water. This will help to prevent any collisions in the water.
Restrooms, Lockers and Showers
Restrooms are located along the pathway to the café and boathouse. There are lockers provided for day use outside the restrooms, lockers cost $2.00 per use. Freshwater showers are provided for windsurfers near the grass rigging area.
Launch Fees
If you own your own watercraft (motor boats are prohibited on Shoreline Lake) you may launch it at Shoreline for a nominal fee. For windsurfers and other watercraft the cost is $5.00 per day and for those with sailboats the cost is $6.00 per day.
Retail Shop
Right next to the Rental Office at the boathouse you may come across our retail shop. Here we offer Shoreline memorabilia and gifts such as our printed cards, hats, fleecy jackets and t-shirts. Charts of local bird species are for sale for the avid birdwatcher.You may also find wetsuits, windsurfing and sailing accessories, and life jackets. If you come unprepared for the elements, don’t worry, sunscreen, sunglasses, first aid supplies, energy bars, cold drinks and ice cream are here as well.
