Camp Shoreline | Windsurfing and Sailing Camp (Level I)
Windsurfing and Sailing Camp (Level II)
Shoreline offers three different camps to suit the interests, skills and age level of every participant. Besides being fun, local and safe, kids get the chance to burn off all that summer energy and keep their minds engaged by learning watersports - without the risk of the actual Bay.
Camp Shoreline engages even the liveliest child! A classic day camp experience for 5-11 year olds, with a mix of watersports and land activities, it's the perfect combination of the cerebral and physical to spark a camper's creativity and enthusiasm for learning. Campers get to kayak, canoe, row or cycle the pedalboats, and also take part in a variety of different activities, including: playing games, participating in crafts, taking a sailboat ride, learning about Shoreline Park by hiking and birdwatching in its wildlife sanctuary, or even dropping by the historic Rengstorff House museum for a visit. For 9-15 year olds wanting to learn how to windsurf and sail, we offer a Level I, hands-on Windsurfing & Sailing day camp that helps campers learn the basics and gain confidence. The supportive learning environment helps campers progressively develop each essential skill which includes water safety, and board and boat handling basics, with daily on-the-water exercises. New windsurfers start out on a land simulator to gain a solid understanding of wind direction and board handling before heading out on the water, and when sailing, students alternate skipper and crew duties to ensure they learn both positions.
