Introductory Stand Up Paddleboarding

Have you ever wanted to learn to walk on water? See people standing up on huge "surfboards" and think it looks fun? It is! Easy to learn the basics, and great core workout! Improve and increase you balance and core muscles, while having a great time on the water! Unlike surfing you don't need waves to be able stand up paddle. In your beginning lesson, you will learn techniques to be able to stand up on the board, and paddle with correct technique, all in the safe and calm waters at Shoreline Lake. Once you've learned the basics, you can come back and rent a board to practice your new skills! In a lesson, the first 30 min will be on land, talking about the different parts of the board and how to get on and stand up. The next hour or so will be spent on the water. While this may not seem like a long time, it will be a good workout for you if you've never paddled!

SUP Yoga - Beginner/Intermediate

Take your yoga practice outside and on the water. Your mat is a stand up paddleboard; the world is your studio and all the elements have been invited – sun, wind, water, and earth. Enjoy learning while adapting to the motion of the board, the continuous challenge to balance, the instant instability created by minor energy and weight shifts, and the focus required to ground while afloat.

Prerequisites: You must be able to swim unaided. You must also be physically capable of pulling yourself up out of the water and onto a standup paddleboard unaided. Prior experience with yoga is preferred.

What To Bring

Dress in layers as you would come to any yoga class. No Cotton. Sunglasses and hat recommended. Swimsuit if you don’t want to get clothes wet.
